The Body Control Pilates Method is suitable for everyone, regardless of fitness level. Matwork exercises are particularly safe for those with back problems - approximately 95% of the population has experienced back pain or is currently suffering with it.
Body Control Pilates is based on 8 principles - relaxation, co-ordination, alignment, stamina, concentration, centring, breathing and flowing movements. Core stability is achieved and maintained through increasingly complex movement sequences.
Body awareness is heightened by bringing together mind and body - Body Control Pilates teaches you to be in control of your body, allowing you to handle stress more effectively and achieve relaxation more easily.
Over time, Body Control Pilates helps to reshape your body which will become longer, leaner and more toned. It will also improve your posture, achieving a good balance between strength and flexibility.
The exercises are performed in various positions from lying on your back, standing, side lying, sitting or four point kneeling. Each position challenges your strength and stability while increasing your mobility. Various small pieces of equipment are used in the classes - stretch bands, weights, overballs, sitfits, toning circles and foam rollers - all equipment is provided for your use during the class.
